An Adventure exploring the amazing world of art.  Hands on, interactive, messy, engaging, packed with fun!  This class is designed for adult and child interaction as they participate in activities together.  Each class begins with story time, followed by donning of art smocks to create the "Make and Take" project.  We conclude the class with Explore and Play; a fun and messy open-ended art activity.  Students learn fundamentals, socialization, and create artful memories.  

Most classes will start with an engaging story-time that will relate to the planned art lesson.  Connecting literature to art is a goal for this class, as students will get to jump-start their creative thinking allowing the story to take them on a new adventure.  Charged up with creativity the class will move onto the main art lesson that incorporates what was taught using a variety of mediums such as markers, paint and clay.  A portion of every class will involve "clean-up time" that helps the students learn proper care for art supplies. Students learn that art and literature are fun!  These classes strive to increase confidence and art appreciation.  

Teacher directed art is a newer concept for many.  Students will be guided by the instructor each step of the project process.  No two art projects will be the same; as the student's will make unique decisions of color and detail.  This format teaches the students early art skills otherwise overlooked.  Class will begin with creative play to encourage interaction with classmates.  Each week students will help with the clean-up process and taught proper art tool handling and care.  Get ready for some amazing art work to hang on your walls or give as gifts. 

Engaging and adventurous; students will learn in a small group setting, creating independent and collaborative projects.  Class begins with a book selection chosen for its unique style of illustration and engaging story, where the instructor will talk about art, style and art vocabulary as it pertains to the book.  The style in this class is pushing the student towards a more independent, and critical thinking art discovery.  Students learn how to better manage group dynamics and self-confidence. 

This class will allow siblings to take class together, but still having deliberate age appropriate material.  Students will "travel" around the world, learning about famous artists, art style, techniques and art history.  A typical class will involve looking at the world map, finding the location of the featured artist, and learning about that culture, climate and local style.  Discovery into these new places will be made by watching videos, learning a new song from that culture, or eating a snack that would be eaten in that country.  Students will be able to practice the featured art style inspired by the artist which will help them to understand how to learn about a new technique and then implement that new skill on their own.  

This class is perfect for the student looking to learn more about art at a higher level.  Students should already have a good foundation of art and this class will enhance art skills and basic skills.  Artists begin to "find themselves" at the middle school level.  Our objective in this class is to keep pushing that creative discovery.  We utilize technology and and the internet often, while showcasing all the available options to art!  More advanced projects will be assigned such as lithograph, perspective and photography.  Students will be challenged to apply balance, movement, proportion, variety and texture in their work.  We begin to show the students the differences in quality supplies and give them the opportunity to use various tools to experiment with their art. Students may stay in this class upon completion or move on to Middle Club.  

Prerequisite: Middles Level 1

This class is for the advanced student looking to foster their art skills in a more fast paced, challenging group setting with projects in screen printing, lithograph, perspective, cartooning and sculpture.  Sketch book assignments will be given for the student to complete on their own time, making this class a commitment. Discovering individual styles will be stressed; encouraging the student to find what they enjoy and what they are good at and expanding on that.  The club pushes towards higher learning by learning how to peer critique and self evaluate, which are skills art students will continue to develop in high school and college.
